The Reconnection Ceremony was one of the highlights of the 2016 Igbo World Festival of Arts and Culture. During this ceremony, African Americans who traced their ancestry to Igbo communities in Nigeria (through DNA testing and other means) were re-connected with their Igbo brothers and sisters and officially welcomed back to their homeland.

The 2016 Reconnection Ceremony was officiated by Ticha Akuma-Kalu Njoku (CISA DSG, Reconnection Committee) and Eze Eri (one of the traditional rulers that traveled from Nigeria to attend the event).
