3rd Igbo World Festival of Arts & Culture

The 3rd Igbo World Festival of Arts and Culture was organized by CISA with the support of several Igbo organizations. The three-day Festival was attended by over a thousand people including hundreds of children and youths who, among other things, participated actively in several cultural presentations. The event took place July 23-25, 2016 at the Igbo Village in Staunton, Virginia, USA.

Cultural Heritage Showcase

  • An opening song titled Nnonu (You’re Welcome) by Igbo children, assisted by Igbo women
  • Nkwa Umuagbogho Dance led by Ms Immaculata Ulu
  • War Dance led by Mr Jerry Uka
  • Igbo Girls Dance
  • PILA boys dance led by Mrs Kanayo Ntukogu
  • PILA girls 3-part dance presentation
  • Mmanwu masquerade presentation led by Chief Okey Ononaku
  • Domestic Violence Dramatization by Ms Lilycent Ogbuagu and Chidozie Okoro a.k.a. Mc Chido
  • Exhibit of Igbo material culture (cultural artifacts)
  • CISA Women’s dance . . . and many more

Reconnection and Naming Ceremonies

African Americans of Igbo ancestry were reconnected with their Igbo brethren and given Igbo names.
