The  Council of Igbo States in Americas is again, ready for its 2017 annual epoch making World Igbo Festival of the Arts, Language and Culture which holds on July 27, 28, and 29 2017, at Igbo Farm Village,Staunton, Virginia, U.S.A..

This year’s World Igbo Festival of the Arts, Language and Culture is being organized by CISA in concert with The Frontier Culture Museum, Staunton, Virginia, U.S.A.,and in collaboration with all apex Igbo communities from Abia State, Anambra State, Delta State (Anioma), Ebonyi State, Enugu State, Imo State, Rivers State, Igbo World Assembly (IWA), Nwannedinamba, U.S.A. etc. and other sister Igbo Cultural Associations in Canada, United States of America, Europe and Asia.

This event will showcase Igbo traditional naming ceremonies, traditional weddings, traditional Dance, Music, Nollywood Films, Books and Literary Works of Igbo Authors in Igbo and other Languages that rewrite and challenges some of “Igbo /black mythical narratives”. The highlight of the event will be a rendition/reenactment of the legendary ‘Ohaofia War Dance’- a historical demonstration of Igbo heroism, Igbo Pride, and Great Igbo Culture and Heritage.

We are anticipating that many Royalties, (HRM), Governors, and VIPs, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Nollywood Actors will be in attendance; partnering with CISA and other Igbo Organizations in promulgation of our language, culture and celebration of the contributions of over 5 million the Igbo Americans and their value added to the landscape. 

Reserve July 27-29th weekend for your family summer get away in Virginia to attend the Festival. We are encouraging All the Igbo Organizations from across the globe to take part in the Planning and execution of the Igbo Cultural extravaganza.

Last year we had over 29 Igbo Organizations partnering with CISA for the Event and we are looking for more than 100 Igbo groups to be a part of this event. 

There will be exhibition of various Igbo Pre-historic artifacts tools and instruments from the past drawn from various parts of Igboland and Igbo World Civilization. 

As usual, there will be participation from many Igbo Organizations, Associations and Clubs in U.S. Canada, Mexico, Jamaica and Columbia alone, and many more from Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and South America and South Africa.

The event will showcase cultural dances from Anioma (Delta), Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and Rivers states.CISA is committed to working, collaborating and partnering with all, to leverage Ndiigbo in Diaspora as a strategic partner on Igbo advocacy. It is our goal to advance Igbo Culture, Language and Arts in Americas and across the globe through this annual promulgation of our Language, Tradition and Culture.

  4. Director of the Frontier Commonwealth of Virginia John Avoli (Invited /Expected) and have express interest in a return visit to Nigeria to participate at the 2017 Igbo Day celebration in September
  5. Dignitaries from South -South South -East government of Nigeria (Invited /Expected)
  6. Many Royalties, (HRM) South-South, South, East Igbo Speaking States of Nigeria, like Eze Uzu, Eze Eri, Eze Nri, Igwe C Ilomuanya,
  7. Ohaneze Ndigbo  President Chief. Barrister John Nnia Nwodo/ Leadership (regularly in attendance )
  8. Nigerian/Igbo Folk Musician /Nollywood Actors and other Igbo dignitaries and organizations will be in attendance as in the past

Why Igbo Village? 

The highlight of this event is the “Igbo Village”, build in acknowledgement of our brethren that were brought to the Americas in the 16oos. We use the opportunity to showcase their imprints on the Americas landscape. Visitors and participants will also, be opportune to visit other villages like the Irish, the German, the English and the Native India Villages within the same Frontier Museum Culture, all built in acknowledgements of the contributions of the early settlers. The presence of the Majesties and the Ohanaeze leadership at these events unquestionably adds values to the proceedings.

This year’s event is scheduled for July 27 to July 29, 2017 at Frontiers Culture Museum of the Commonwealth of Virginia in Staunton Virginia, USA and we are again, expecting a packed room of prominent personalities from Royal Majesties, Executive Governors to Nollywood Actors who will be coming from across the globe to witness this marquee event.

Council of Igbo Speaking States in Americas(CISA) was chartered by the US, Canada, and other National Igbo State Organizations comprising the Abia State Association – USA; the Anambra State Association Worldwide- ASA-World; the Anioma –USA; the Enugu-USA; Ebonyi and the Imo State Congress in America and Canada . Council of Igbo States in Americas is the only Igbo organization in the Americas that work in concert with American government in representing the interests of roughly four million Igbos in the Americas.  It presents to the Diasporas Americas and the American government the accountability and the contributions of the Igbo Americas to the mainstream Americas.
