I am Elizabeth Orusa. I am one of the older dancers from Atlanta Igbo School. I am 20 years old. I would like to say Thank You for inviting us to Igbo Village in Virginia. It was an experience to remember. First and foremost, I am happy to be a Nigerian, an Igbo Nigerian to be exact. I love my country, for what it stands for and its culture . . .

During July 27-29^th [2017], Atlanta Igbo School had a chance to come to Igbo Village in Virginia. We as a group were so excited to come. We didn’t know what to expect but that we knew that we were going to be dancing. Little did everyone know, we were all happy to go on a road trip together as a group. I was excited because I’ve never done something like this before.

When we arrived for the first day for the event, we were taken to an Igbo Village. I like the Igbo Village because it actually looked like a real representation of how houses looked like in a village in Nigeria. From the sand, to the type of pots, to the instruments that were there all reminded me of the time I went to visit Nigeria with my own family. It was really cool to even see how cassava was grown or left on a farm to harvest.
