Denver Beaulieu-Hains

Denver Beaulieu-Hains grew up in Southern Maryland. She’d never heard of the Igbo World Festival until a co-worker recommended that she attend the Festival in 2016. She was so thrilled by the experience, she brought a growing number of family members and friends to experience the Festival annually.

Over the years, Denver became very active as a volunteer assisting CISA with Festival preparation, improvement suggestions and outreach to the African American community. Her active involvement earned her a leadership position in CISA as the Liaison for African American Affairs. She was given the Igbo name “Ada Egi Aga Mba” in 2017.

Denver has authored several publications on her experience with the Igbo World Festival and the Igbo people she has met in America and Africa. She was part of a group that visited Igboland for the first time in 2017 and were welcomed into the Igbo community by traditional rulers, given plots of land to build homes, and treated to a reception by the Governor of Anambra State.

Denver has also learned and performed Igbo dance at several events including the 2018 Igbo World Festival. She plans to establish a permanent home in Igboland in the coming years.
