Ambassador Sylvanus Nsofor

Sylvanus Nsofor was the Nigerian Ambassador to the United States from November 2017 through July 2020. He attended the Igbo World Festival for the first time in 2019. He was so thrilled by what he experienced that he led an impromptu and prolonged dance that roused the audience to their feet, despite his physical limitations at age 84.

Ambassador Nsofor passed away in December 2020 at age 85, by which time he had developed strong relationships with CISA members. Thanks to the many conversations he had with CISA members and his support for the Igbo World Festival, Ambassador Nsofor made a positive impact, for which CISA is grateful.
